Byron Center, Michigan-headquartered grocery store retailer SpartanNash, recently announced its acquisition of independent grocery wholesaler Great Lakes Foods.The acquisition includes a 300,000-square-foot distribution center located in Menominee, Michigan. The acquisition will allow SpartanNash to strengthen its presence in the Midwest and expand its product offering to include fresh produce, dairy, deli and bakery products.

The acquisition is part of SpartanNash’s strategy to expand its presence in the Midwest region and strengthen its product offerings for customers. The company expects that this purchase will help it better serve existing customers while also allowing it to reach new ones as Great Lakes has a market presence of more than 100 years.
