Mike Eardley, IDDBA President and CEO, presented at the 2022 IDDBA Show in Atlanta and highlighted three key investment areas for grocery executives.

The show had over 10,000 attendees and more than 800 companies. The speaker detailed that innovations in the deli, bakery, and dairy sections seem inevitable now, and grocers need to pay attention. The three areas needing innovation and attention included people, technology, and the future of the deli and bakery. Mike added that companies need to train, motivate, and compensate teams in the ongoing labour crisis. To improve the deli and bakery section, grocers need to find the specialists for them. Consumers love to drop by the prepared-food department and grab a quick bite. In technology, grocers need to invest in the metaverse, 3D virtual reality, and cryptocurrencies like NFTs.
