Walmart’s drone delivery partnership with Wing expanding to second Dallas location for holiday convenience

Walmart’s partnership with Wing, Google’s drone delivery service, expands to a second Dallas-area Supercenter after the initial Frisco, Texas, launch. As the holidays approached, Wing promoted its service’s convenience for last-minute needs like gifts or cooking ingredients. According to Wing’s CFO, 43% of consumers make spontaneous grocery trips, and 74% seek faster delivery options. The drones achieved deliveries in under 30 minutes, sometimes as fast as three minutes. Wing’s CFO cited personal experiences where drone delivery could have resolved urgent situations, emphasising its speed and convenience. Having completed over 350,000 flights globally, Wing’s drones carried nearly three pounds of goods at speeds up to 65 mph. Currently exclusive to Walmart, Wing plans to expand, providing thousands of products to 60,000 households within a six-mile radius. The service’s eco-friendly aspect and customer preferences align, with half of respondents concerned about environmental impact. While Wing highlights holiday potential, coffee deliveries lead to repeat orders in other active markets.
