Walmart partners with Roku to let shoppers purchase directly from TV ads

Walmart has partnered with the Roku platform, a video streaming service provider, enabling customers to shop directly from ads run on the TV. This first-of-its-kind pilot programme would not need shoppers to scan a QR code to make the purchase. Viewers would use their remote and press the “OK” button on the shoppable ad while watching the streaming to buy their desired products. It will take them to the Walmart site’s shopping cart straight away, and the Roku platform will embed their credit card details. To place and complete the order, shoppers would again click OK on the remote. An email from Walmart with their shipping, billing information and support will land in their inbox.
