Lidl Belgium adds more vegan and vegetarian offerings to its grocery isles

Lidl Belgium witnessed a drop in meat consumption and observed changing consumer trends in the European country. As a response, the discount grocer is now adding more vegan, plant-based products and other meat alternatives to its isles to attract shoppers back. Recently, iVOX surveyed Belgian consumers at the request of the non-profit association EVA and revealed that they are lowering the consumption of animal-based meat. The survey also showed that sales of vegan and vegetarian meat substitutes grew 60% between 2017 and 2020. The grocer has added additional 73 vegetarian and vegan SKUs and plans to expand them with time.
