Shoppable content is a disruptive way to augment at-home cooking by offering meal inspiration and the easy selection and ordering of ingredients with a few clicks. Walmart has been working on an expansive fleet of more than 4,700 stores in the US. Joel LaFrance, marketing vice president at grocery technology firm Basketful and a Walmart partner, revealed that the grocer is expediting efforts to grow shoppable content. Jordan Berke, founder and CEO of Tomorrow Retail Consulting, shared that shoppable recipes are responsible for around 5% to 8% of online sales for grocery retailers. Moreover, Walmart will include tags, including minimal waste for sustainability, organic and “lowest cost.”
