Natural Grocers predicts grocery trends that consumers will look for in 2023

Natural Grocers is the most recent company to reveal its trend forecasts for 2023, releasing on Thursday its eighth annual list of 12 trends evenly distributed over four groups: food and beverage, ecologically thoughtful, body care and beauty, and health and wellness. Natural Grocers offers advice on items or meal ideas for each trend. Apparently, consumer perceptions of healthy behaviours played a role in the emerging grocery patterns.

According to Natural Grocers, more customers will wish to adopt better drinking practices, such as abstaining from alcohol altogether or preferring alcohol-free beverages. In short, the following are the predicted trends that Natural Grocers has released:

  • the deliberate movement
  • Snacking that’s simple
  • Comfort food that’s somewhat healthy
  • “Purposeful” packaging that consumers may discard or recycle
  • Gut health and digestive comfort with zero-waste cooking
