Meijer, known for its neighbourhood market concept in Michigan, expands into Ohio with the upcoming debut of the Fairfax Market in Cleveland’s Innovation District. Spanning 40,000 square feet, this store is part of a larger community revitalisation initiative, a collaboration involving the City of Cleveland, Cleveland Clinic, Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation, and Fairmount Properties. Scheduled for a January opening, the market aims to combat food insecurity, foster economic growth, and provide a new shopping hub for locals and area employees. Emphasising community engagement, the Fairfax Market promises an extensive range of offerings, from fresh produce, meat, and bakery items to over 2,000 local products and an international section. Meijer pledges support for local businesses, showcasing their goods alongside national brands and offering a diverse array of services, including a floral shop, a wide selection of local beers and wines, and a cafe space. Scheduled to employ around 50 individuals, the store is set to operate daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., focusing on community involvement and accessible, quality products.
