Discounters continue lowering the prices of grocery essentials and attracting inflation-stricken shoppers

Discount giants, including Family Dollar, are amping up to grow their inventory of fresh, frozen and ready-to-eat meals and are decreasing prices further. The move will support shoppers struggling due to spiking food prices and general inflation and offer them affordable food choices. Goodlettsville, the Tennessee-based retailer, continues injecting hefty capital to expand its perishables programme. Chesapeake and Virginia-based Dollar Tree are in the middle of testing multiple price points for frozen foods to attract shoppers. Family Dollar is observing a significant second-quarter jump in sales of food and beverages.
