Costco is teaming up with telehealth marketplace Sesame, backed by Google, to offer its members access to online physicians. Sesame is set to provide “special discount pricing” to Costco members for a range of outpatient medical services, with telehealth appointments priced at $29. Unlike Walgreens and Walmart, which are rolling out in-store clinics staffed by physicians, Costco will not have in-store clinics. Instead, Sesame connects consumers with thousands of outpatient healthcare providers across the US, offering both virtual and in-person care. While most appointments are expected to be online, Costco members booking in-person appointments will receive an automatic 10% discount on Sesame’s list price. Sesame’s marketplace promotes competition among providers, reducing the cost of care, enhancing price transparency, and ensuring quick access to healthcare professionals.
