Almost 50% of consumers follow a strict diet to achieve health and fitness goals

As per the International Food Information Council’s 2022 Food and Health Survey, almost half of the respondents said that they are following a clean diet. More than a third of them said that they want to maintain their health for a long time. About the same number of respondents said they want to shed a few kilos and achieve their dream body. The top four eating routines consumers say they follow are clean eating, mindful eating, calorie counting and plant-based. Around 73% of them said that they have a snack once a day, an increase in 15 percentage points from last year. A huge chunk of Gen Z consumers, aged between the 18-24 bracket, were included in the online survey for better generational comparison purposes. These respondents also wanted to improve their mental health by opting for a healthy diet.
