Retailers seek out MaxAB’s tech-enabled solutions to address inefficiencies in supply chain

According to Belal el Megharbel, founder and CEO of Cairo-based B2B  eCommerce enterprise MaxAB, small businesses, which include mom-and-pop stores, constitute about 90% of the local produce and grocery industry in Egypt. Global retail giants such as Walmart or Walgreens of Egypt only have a small impact on the market. Nevertheless, in spite of the substantial size of the small- and medium-sized company (SMB) sector, the industry has been hampered by a disrupted supply chain with several layers of retailers and wholesalers in between, leading to considerable errors and adversely affecting SMB in different ways.

However, MaxB is trying to fill this gap by offering tech-driven solutions and many vehicles that will make the whole supply chain efficient and reliable. The business has also increased the range of services it provides by adding FinTech solutions targeted at digitising cash flow in the heavily cash-dependent local food supply chain. Older and ineffective B2B supply chain models appear to be losing ground to MaxAB and other portals in the digital supply chain area.
