Traditional supermarkets and Amazon lead in customer satisfaction for online food shopping, survey finds

Traditional supermarkets and retail giant Amazon lead in customer satisfaction for online food shopping, according to a survey by The Feedback Group. Grocery stores earned a score of 4.4 out of 5, closely followed by Amazon with a score of 4.3. Mass retailers like Walmart and Target ranked third with a score of 4.26, while value stores (Aldi and Lidl) scored 4.11, club stores scored 3.99, and dollar stores scored 3.9. The study highlighted the success of supermarkets and Amazon in providing satisfying online shopping experiences, while value-oriented and dollar stores showed lower satisfaction levels. The survey also revealed that younger generations had lower satisfaction ratings, emphasising the need for grocers to innovate their online shopping experiences. Additionally, concerns were raised about the higher prices of online shopping and the perceived lack of personalisation and item availability by online grocery providers. Urban shoppers were found to be more inclined to shop online compared to rural shoppers.
