Safeway, a grocery giant owned by Albertsons Companies, is tapping Tortoise, a Tech startup, to test remote-controlled grocery delivering robots. Safeway will equip its carts with Tortoise sensors and the bots will deliver groceries up to three miles, while a remote-control operator will help navigate the bot to its destination. It has a capacity and lockable grocery storage of 120 pounds. Customers will be notified once the cart arrives.
