A Berlin-based tech startup Nomitri has launched its smartphone app to scan items at grocery stores for a cashier-less checkout experience. A computer vision & Al system mount is attached to retailers’ carts and a smartphone holder for scanning and tallying the products in the cart. Customers download the app and let their camera face the cart to scan the barcode. Final payment is done through Apple Pay or similar e-payment options through checkout lanes. Every product needs to be scanned or removed to avert theft.
