Walmart’s innovation lab called Intelligent Retail Lab (IRL) is exploring AI and robotics technologies to transform in-store shopping. Recently Walmart engineers invited attendees inside its AI-powered 50,000 sq ft retail store in Long Island. Amongst the latest innovations include: 1) 1,000 AI-enabled cameras that gauge the ripeness of produce and monitor product availability, 2) Smart shelves with real-time product data and weight sensors, 3) Bossa Nova’s inventory robots, 4) Product intelligence software, and 5) Smart RFID scanners.
