IKEA is currently testing two new formats in China and Austria to change its usual maze-like showrooms. Ingka Holding B.V. is testing a new IKEA store design in the Xuhui district of Shanghai. This theatre-like showroom will offer IKEA shoppers a restaurant and a bar. It also has a Maker’s Hub where assistants help restore and assemble furniture. The store in Vienna, Austria, has five stories and a rooftop cafe. This store offers smaller furniture items and accessories, while chunky items can be delivered the next day. Shoppers can use their phones to pay and checkout in both stores.
