French retailer Carrefour forays into the Metaverse by purchasing a spot in The Sandbox

Carrefour, the famous French retailer, is the latest retail company to enter the Metaverse and has bought the parcel 33,147. The retail giant has purchased a virtual plot in the Sandbox. The Sandbox is a game in which players can purchase digital plots of land called LAND. Owners can create, share, and earn money from in-world assets and gaming experiences. Carrefour reported that it had acquired land equivalent to 30 supermarkets in the Metaverse. This move is in line with the digital transformation and innovation project of Carrefour. Before Carrefour, Walmart, Nike and Adidas entered the metaverse space and bought virtual spots to sell virtual products. The metaverse is a hypothetical imitation of the Internet as a single and universal virtual world. This virtual world is facilitated by virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) headsets.
