Consumers can now dine in the metaverse as restaurants join the digital world

As per a report by Wall Street Journal, 92% of Gen Z consumers would love to use augmented reality to buy products. This research encouraged many brands, including restaurants, to join the metaverse and book digital slots for their virtual outlets. Last year, Chipotle set up its restaurant in Roblox’s gaming platform for a Halloween promotion in the metaverse. The dining space is just a virtual replica of Chipotle’s real-world restaurant. Consumers can earn and trade reward points for Roblox gift cards on Chipotle’s app and website. Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer at Chipotle, added that the chain wants to become a leader in the metaverse. Wendy’s has rolled out its virtual eatery in Meta’s virtual game Horizon Worlds. McDonald’s would reportedly become the next restaurant to enter metaverse as it filed patents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
