Insights for the Food and Grocery Industry

Amazon is developing an automatic refrigerator with the same cashierless technology for its grocery outlets. These refrigerators would scan low-stock items and would notify about products nearing the expiry date. The smart fridge would have computer-vision technology, sensor fusion, and deep learning algorithms to replenish inventory automatically. Amazon’s physical-stores unit is developing these automatic refrigerators. The same team is behind Just Walk Out, Dash Cart and the Amazon One Palm-swapping payment system. The fridge could predict consumer buying behaviour and possibly suggest recipes based on the ingredients available.
