Albertsons takes another initiative to expand food and medicine access to promote consumer wellness

Albertsons is expanding food and medicine access for consumers to promote wellness. The grocer recently announced that it is starting to accept supplemental benefits to allow shoppers to buy fresh produce and over-the-counter medicines. Many grocers now find consumer wellness as a crucial trend to highlight and attract more shoppers. Albertsons has teamed up with technology payments platform Solutran’s S3 to offer pre-paid cards. Medicare Advantage plans, employer incentives, healthcare providers or local governments are funding these pre-paid cards for shoppers. The grocer will grow programmes like Fresh Bucks, a healthy food programme that helps Seattle residents purchase fruits and vegetables. Solutran’s S3 also supports the Fresh Bucks programme.
