AI to generate $113 Billion in operational efficiency and revenue for grocery industry, finds Grocery Doppio Study

A recent report by Grocery Doppio highlights the immense potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in the grocery industry. The study, conducted in collaboration with FMI (the Food Industry Association), reveals that AI is expected to generate $113 billion in operational efficiency and new revenue for grocery businesses. According to the research, nearly three-quarters of grocery technology executives anticipate incorporating AI into most of their software by 2025. The implementation of AI in supermarkets is projected to experience 400% growth by the end of next year, potentially resulting in the elimination of 18% of store associate positions, 73% of store tasks, and 53% of shopper queries. While only a small percentage of respondents currently use AI in multiple areas of the store, a significant majority (74%) express interest in AI capabilities when considering new software. The study highlights the potential for significant savings and benefits across various aspects of grocery operations, including inventory management, merchandising, marketing, store operations, customer service, and IT/technology. Additionally, the report underscores the impact AI will have on the supply chain, merchandising, and marketing.
