AeroFarms expands retail presence with Walmart and Stop & Shop, despite chapter 11 filing

Indoor vertical farming company AeroFarms is expanding its retail presence by partnering with big-box retailers and regional grocers such as Walmart and Stop & Shop. The Certified B Corporation will increase its availability by more than 35% at Ahold Delhaize USA stores in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. AeroFarms recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection due to industry and capital market challenges, with CEO David Rosenberg stepping down. However, the company’s Danville, Virginia, farm continues to scale as planned. AeroFarms uses indoor grow facilities to produce greens and other pesticide-free produce year-round while using up to 95% less water than traditional farming methods. The company aims to meet the growing demand for its flavourful and nutritious microgreens through expanded retail partnerships.
