German grocer Aldi is the cheapest grocer of 2021, beats Lidl

An annual survey conducted by Which?, a research firm, revealed that Aldi has outdone Lidl, and been crowned as the cheapest retailer of the year 2021. The report also showed that Aldi maintained inexpensive prices for 12 months, whereas Lidle kept prices affordable for six months. In 2021, many grocers increased an average of 3.4% of prices. Waitrose prices surged the most- by 9.2%, and Sainsbury’s increased its prices the least, at 0.59%. Retail editor Ele Clark detailed that consumers are already concerned about their unbalanced budget and expect staple grocery items to be inexpensive.
