Krispy Kreme doughnut chain is coming to the U.S. and Mexico with its dark shops

The famous doughnut chain Krispy Kreme is gearing up to launch its delivery-only dark shops in the U.S. and Mexico. The retailer has already piloted such fulfilment centres in the UK and operates about 50 delivery points. The dark shops provide fresh doughnuts to consumers and also let the brand lower costs. These dark shops are different from the dark kitchens as nothing is being cooked or prepared and they act as a pickup point for delivery riders. Currently having 10,000 global access points, the doughnut chain plans to have 50,000 in the long run. Krispy Kreme has about 17.2% of sales from online channels in 2021 and plans to expand e-commerce sales.
