BIRA rolls out Neartoo, an online trading site, to help retailers bounce back

The British Independent Retailers Association (Bira) has rolled out a digital public trading platform named Neartoo. The main goal of launching Neartoo is to help most-affected independent retailers bounce back from the pandemic woes. The platform would highlight the nearest independent retailers in the vicinity of the High Streets to shoppers. The neartoo.co.uk website has numerous indie outlets with curbside pickup and online delivery options registering to get noticed by shoppers. Neartoo will be offering rewards and points to encourage visitors that can be redeemed with all Neartoo partner retailers. Lidl has launched three retail outlets in Estonia for the first time

Lidl, a German supermarket chain, has opened three retail outlets in Estonia. The supermarket chain has now covered all the Baltic States after the recent launch. Lidl has a store in the capital city Tallinn and three other Estonian cities. The newly-launched stores received an overwhelming response from shoppers. Schwarz Group, the owner of the chain, injected 80M euros into the launch and will have above 1,000 new job openings in the country with a population of 1.2 million consumers. Ekoplaza, a Dutch organic chain, acquires Belgian Origin’O and teams up with Belgium-based Färm

Earlier, Ekoplaza, a Dutch organic food supermarket, had acquired a Belgian organic retailer Origin’O. Recently, the grocer has teamed up with Färm, a Brussels-based retailer, to reach French-speaking Belgian consumers. Ekoplaza plans to launch one hundred stores – fourteen of which are in Belgium, after the acquisition and merger. Färm founders Alexis Descampe and Lionel Wauters detailed that this merger will solidify and further expand the organic market in Belgium. The market faced a lot of obstacles after the onset of the pandemic. Ikea launches a shopping mall named Livat in the UK

Ikea, the Swedish furniture giant, has just launched its shopping centre named Livat in West London. The retailer bought Kings Mall two years ago and has spent £170m on the launch of 37,000 square metres Livat. Along with the Ikea outlet, The mall also has Lidl, a Library of Things, a social enterprise, and Sook, the event lounge and rent-by-the hour retail space. To offer food and entertainment options to consumers, the mall will have local food kiosks with Ikea’s own Swedish Deli and two cafeterias selling meatballs, open sandwiches and coffee.
