Hy-Vee, a US-based supermarket chain, is piloting aisle-scanning robots to five more stores in Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska. Simbe Robotics has developed robots that come with in-built HD cameras to track inventory on the grocery shelves. The bots gather more data than human workers can in a shorter period and provide higher accuracy. This data helps the grocer manage out-of-stock items effectively and plan for future consumer demand. Hy-Vee is bringing the latest version of robots that have upgraded sensors named Tally 3.0.

Albertsons has signed a multi-year deal with Pinterest, the leading picture sharing app. This partnership will help the grocer advance Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Application programming interference (API). The latest innovative agreement will help shoppers plan Pinterest inspired meals. Pinterest has an expanding creator ecosystem and Idea Pins format, a multi-page video format to help the grocer grab consumers’ attention. The partners will roll out exciting features like a meal planning API and AI-enabled shopping tablescapes to suggest recipes with a single ingredient. Albertsons’ ambassadors will go live on the snap-sharing app as Pinterest creators.

The Germany-based discount grocer is initiating a £1.3B investment drive over the next two years as it observed a 10% sales boosts in the last year. Aldi will have about 2,000 vacant job positions as it will launch 100 new grocery stores in the UK in 2022. Despite the inflating sales, Aldi’s annual profit fell by 2.5% due to the pandemic-led inflation.
