PayPal, a US-based fintech giant, has acquired Paidy, a Japanese Buy-now-pay-later platform, for about $2.7 billion. This acquisition will allow PayPal to expand its financial services to the APAC region and serve the third-largest e-commerce market in the world. As an investor reported, shopping volume in Japan has more than tripled to around $200 billion in the last decade. PayPal can capitalize on this opportunity by providing seamless digital transactions services. Paidy was founded in 2018 and has around 6 million Japanese users. This consortium will help grocers customize and digitize the entire meal planning process, both in-store and online. Innit software will offer handy insights and consumer data to power customized grocery shopping. Google Cloud will suggest relevant grocery items and recipes while building a meal kit. The suggestions will consider shoppers’ health and fitness requirements along with previous search history.

Walmart has associated with Meredith Corp. to offer meal solutions with shoppable recipes. Meredith Corp. is a famous magazine and the largest premium video content platform. The firms will advertise bookend shoppable ads on Meredith’s digital platform, including brands like Better Homes, Allrecipes and Eating Well. Consumers can browse delicious recipes and add ingredients from the grocer’s website directly to their cart. They can ask for home delivery or choose a pickup option. The ads will be aired on its Tiktok social account and come with visual search, Google Assistant and voice-activated technology.
