The future of Last-mile delivery looks bright

As per a report by Ofcom, a research firm, there was a 48% increase in online shopping from 2019, and British consumers spent almost £110 billion shopping online last year. The rise in online shopping also highlighted few constraints, and lack of communication between customers and couriers is one of them. To overcome the hurdles, many firms will outsource on-demand delivery services. Courier firms will also split local and national deliveries to alter pricing structures. Firms would incorporate data through logistics technology while recruiting delivery drivers. Retailers might integrate receipt feedback recording software for improved customer service.

Kroger has been awarded with the title of Winsight Grocery Business of the Year

As the pandemic hit every business hard in 2020, Kroger also found it turbulent to manage its business and strategic philanthropic activities. Kroger has donated the equivalent of 1 billion meals since starting Zero Hunger, Zero Waste program in 2017. Kroger expanded its donations to an equivalent of 640 million meals in fiscal 2020. The firm continued sustainable efforts by reducing total trash sent to landfills by 4% compared to the last year. The giant retailer has been partnering with numerous firms to curb food waste. This year, Kroger revealed that it would make its products 100% reusable by 2030. Winsight recognized Kroger’s resilient efforts and named it Winsight Grocery Business of the Year.

Closed Loop Partners pilots a multi-retailer test series to support Reinvent the Retail Bag

Target, Walmart and CVS Health have collaborated with Closed Loop Partners to support sustainable alternatives to plastic bags. The multi-retailer program is testing new series of solutions to promote single-use plastic bags. The pilot series would also implement technical solutions to evaluate customer needs and extend the life of retail bags. This program will continue for about six weeks and would assess the technical feasibility and other factors. This multi-year partnership program would soon roll out ChicoBag and Fill it Forward in Northern California.
