Recon Food is an app that allows its users to share snaps of their favourite food and exchange meal ideas. They can also leave reviews, tag restaurants and ghost kitchens. It has a geolocation feature and, users can view the map within the app. Spencer Rascoff, the co-founder of Hotwire and Zillow, and his daughter Sophia Rascoff founded this app with the intent to spread positivity. The founders want users to enjoy food snaps without distraction and compromise on their mental health.

Czech e-Grocer Rohlik raises $119M and now valued at $1.2 billion

Czech online grocer Rohlik continues to gather gobs of money and just raised a $119M Series C round of funding. Previous investor Index Ventures, with participation from Partech and Quadrille Capital, helped the grocer raise funds. According to TechCrunch, the digital grocer is now valued at $1.2 billion. Rohlik has currently expanded its services to Hungary and Austria, with plans to tap Germany, Romania, Italy, France and Spain.

Mere, a Siberian discount chain, opens two stores in Spain

Mere, a Russian discount chain, is tapping Western Europe and opens two stores in Spain. The first two supermarkets of the discounter are located in Parla and Aldaia. Every Mere store will have 1,200 references and only eight employees, including a supervisor, four cashiers, and three workers to look after the delivery operations. Mere has stores in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and China. The retailer is now expanding to the EU region, including Spain, the UK, Romania, Germany, Azerbaijan and Poland.
