Walmart partners with PayNearMe to let its customers pay their bills in cash

Walmart has recently sealed a partnership deal with PayNearMe, a fintech and payment platform, to let its customers pay bills in cash at stores effective August 2021. Customers can process bill payment transactions at Walmart stores by showing a PayNearMe associate a scannable QR code on their smartphones. They can pay in cash and collect their payment receipt that will confirm the transaction has been processed. The payment is then digitally transferred to the biller with an electronic receipt.

Albertsons makes AI and data science its allies to increase profitability

As per a recent research report from McKinsey & Co, 50% of the companies from the retail industry have adopted AI and data science, while 73% are still struggling with the tech solutions implementation. Albertsons is one of those grocers to implement AI and data science solutions quickly to increase profitability and optimize the digital order fulfiment process. The giant grocer is targeting three areas with AI and algorithm application: Optimization of e-commerce fulfilment, automation, and better forecasting and projection that help e-commerce scale.

Float Foods, a plant-based eggs manufacturing firm, raises $1.66M in an investment round

Float Foods, a Singapore-based firm, has raised $1.66 million in an investment round led by DSG Consumer Partners, Insignia Ventures and various other participants. Float Foods specializes in producing plant-based whole eggs named OnlyEg that are derived from legumes. The vegan eggs have whites and a yellow yolk and look similar to the regular ones. The company is set to launch plant-based eggs, patties and shreds next year.

Instacart partners with Canadian independent grocer Organic Garage to offer delivery in Canada

Organic Garage, a Canadian grocer, has signed a partnership deal with Instacart to use its online presence and delivery platform to deliver groceries all across Canada. Customers can order organic, all-natural and affordable goods from the grocer and enjoy same-day delivery service. Instacart’s delivery network is stretched to more than 85% of U.S. households and 70% of Canadian households.

Instacart collaborates with ButcherBox for meat delivery in selected U.S. cities

ButcherBox, a U.S.-based online meat selling firm, is another platform to team up with Instacart. Instacart will now deliver meat from ButcherBox in Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Miami with plans to further expand in the future. Customers can select from 10 different types of meat products offered by ButcherBox. The meat firm offers a wide range of organic, grass-fed chicken and pork raised crate-free options.
