It is the first e-commerce firm to meet level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Customers can remove GIFs and other moving images from the app.

Uber, a ride-hailing firm, has launched Pick Up and Go feature in its app that lets passengers order and pick groceries while riding together. The ride-hailing app will also allow pre-order and place multiple orders if a restaurant or a grocer is closed. This feature will be operational in June this year and customers from selected parts of the U.S., U.K., Canada, Taiwan and Australia can avail this feature first.

To support this venture, Google is partnering with Instacart to provide relevant information to customers.

As a response to the alarming spike in COVID-19 cases in India, Walmart-owned Flipkart is expanding its online grocery outlets by tapping 50 more cities including Kolkata, Pune, and Ahmedabad. It will open 70 new outlets in different locations. Flipkart also added a voice search feature to find products and place an online order. Customers can choose to use voice search in both English and Hindi languages.

Edeka’s group sales rose by 9.5% to £61 Billion. The grocer’s discount subsidiary Netto witnessed sales go up by 7.9%. Independent retailer groups of Edeka saw collective revenue growth of 14.2%.
