Yum Brand acquires Tictuk Technologies to support WhatsApp-based food ordering

Restaurant giant Yum Brands, parent company of Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell has acquired Tictuk Technologies, a tech firm. Tictuk Technologies will help process food orders through WhatsApp and Facebook messenger. The tool has been tested in 900 stores and is helping soar up the brand’s sales since then. Conversational commerce was already popular on Facebook and Twitter. Now WhatsApp and Instagram are next in the queue to allow social commerce.

Beyond Meat opens its first Plant-based production facility in China

Beyond Meat, a Los-Angeles based vegan firm, has announced the opening of its first “end-to-end production facility” in Jiaxing, China. Beyond Meat said it is looking forward to being creative with its plant-based meat and sausage options in its Chinese facility. The latest facility will serve as an innovation R&D centre for its Chinese consumers. The firm already has signed global supply deals with international vendors this year.

URB-E rolls out battery-powered electric bicycles to deliver groceries efficiently

URB-E, a Los-Angeles based IT startup, is rolling out electric bikes to deliver groceries and other goods. These battery-powered bikes are capable of towing 800 pounds of groceries through the busy streets in their foldable cargo carts. These bikes have 750-watt mid-drive motors and can drive up to 12 mph. The cargo bikes are designed to take up less space in the parking lot of grocery outlets and can deliver big orders.

Instacart and DoorDash about to offer credit card rewards to stay on top

Instacart and DoorDash certainly emerged as the winners during the pandemic due to nationwide lockdown. As the lockdown eases out, the two delivery platforms are getting creative to continue to thrive. They are in talks with financial firms like J.P. Morgan to launch reward-based credits card. These cards will let shoppers enjoy great deals and discounts, cashback, as well as help the delivery firms retain their customers post-pandemic.

Farmstead has partnered with DoorDash to offer one-hour online delivery in all the markets it operates in. Customers will be able to place orders with Farmstead using DoorDash App and Website. Farmstead will also let other retailers who use its Grocery OS online order-management software to process deliveries through DoorDash’s white-label fulfilment platform known as Drive.
