Giant is all set to automate its fulfilment centres with robots

Giant Food Stores, US based grocer, will be using automated robots along with humans to fulfil about 15,000 online orders per week. SwissLog, an international company delivering automated logistics and digitized warehouse, would be setting up robots to pick, pack, and retrieve products to fulfil customer orders. The robots, along with humans, would expedite processing the huge order numbers placed due to the pandemic.

Driscoll’s, a US-based berry seller, has recently partnered with Israeli tech company, Consumer Physics. With the help of specially designed cup based on SCiO technology, Driscoll’s will be able to measure the sweetness (Brix) of assorted berries as well as enhance overall quality. The SCiO cup can scan a handful quantity of berries in one go and deliver within seconds accurate data on Brix analysis. Driscoll’s is also digitising its supply chain from harvest to consumer with sensors, robots and analytics.
