Walmart has released its “Responsible AI Pledge,” outlining six key commitments for ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. These commitments encompass transparency, security, privacy, fairness, accountability, and customer-centricity. Walmart joins other leading AI companies in this effort, including Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Meta, and more, who pledged to responsibly manage AI at a summit sponsored by the Biden-Harris Administration. Walmart aims to ensure that customers, associates, and members feel confident in its technology use, addressing concerns related to AI’s rapid pace of innovation. The commitments include measures to promote transparency, safeguard data, protect privacy, mitigate bias, ensure accountability, and enhance customer satisfaction with AI interactions. The broader Biden-Harris pledge focuses on AI safety, security, transparency, and the development of AI systems to address societal challenges, emphasising responsible AI deployment across the industry.
