Walmart is using OpenAI’s GPT-4 to improve its conversational AI integrations

According to Desirée Gosby, vice president of emerging technologies at Walmart Global Tech, Walmart is improving its conversational AI capabilities with OpenAI’s GPT-4. This includes expanding on existing solutions like Text to Shop, which lets shoppers add Walmart products to their carts by texting or saying the item names. Walmart offers roughly two dozen various experiences that make use of the platform’s natural language understanding capabilities, including a chatbot with which a million Walmart employees engage for customer service. When it comes to conversational AI, Walmart’s north star is to employ ChatGPT-like experiences or models to predict what customers are searching for. Walmart will benefit from generative AI in a variety of ways. Gosby believes that generative AI will enable Walmart to provide new or enhanced consumer experiences as well as improve internal procedures or efficiency.
