Walmart introduces AR technologies to improve online shopping experience

Walmart is introducing new augmented reality technologies to its app to make shopping easier and to help it win more sales during the approaching Christmas season. The first option, “View in your house,” allows customers to see possible home furnishings and décor items in their living area. It identifies walls and provides haptic input, allowing customers to see what they are purchasing. It has increased realism and illumination over previous AR efforts. The new augmented reality capabilities are designed to boost buyer trust in high-demand commodities. Walmart has also lately increased its virtual try-on garment functionality.
