Walmart Canada is further deploying AI-powered tech to get instant alerts about products going out of stock. The grocer has teamed up with Focal Systems to use its computer-vision AI solution for on-shelf availability throughout its stores. As Walmart focuses more on enhancing its omnichannel, it intends to invest $3.5 billion in technology for store modification. The AI-based tech uses cameras to detect out-of-stock or low-stock items. It will also send alerts to store staff regarding merchandise replenishment in the grocery, pet, health and beauty departments.
