UK-based grocer Co-op is joining hands with Microsoft, a prominent American tech corporation, to roll out a platform that would help retailers curb food waste. The venture is set to be launched by some of the UK’s leading brands, and tech consultancy BJSS and Team ITG are supporting it. The food waste curbing platform is named Caboodle. It is a not-for-profit digital platform that enables supermarkets, cafés, and restaurants to link with volunteers and community groups to redisperse excess food. About 1.1 million tonnes of food goes to waste across the food retail and hospitality sector yearly in the UK, as per the report of climate action platform Wrap.
