Insights for the Food and Grocery Industry

The latest tech solutions have transformed the hiring process in the grocery sector

During the pandemic, every grocer had no option but to add automation to its grocery outlets and operations. From self-checkout tech solutions and digitised supply chain operations taking over, a lot has changed. The grocery industry witnessed an employee exodus due to robots and tech systems replacing them and doing their job. For instance, in 2021, nearly 70% of job applications were completed and submitted via mobile device. 86% of job applications for gig-type jobs like delivery drivers were processed from a mobile or a laptop. The hiring process got entirely automated. With changing times, grocery stores now need candidates with hands-on technical knowledge. Although many employees have been replaced in the past years due to an outdated organisational role, grocery firms continue to offer them alternate employment related to customer service and other domains within the same firm.
