The economic implications of online grocery shopping, according to Brick Meets Click and Mercatus

A recent prediction from Brick Meets Click and Mercatus predicts that from 2022 to 2027, online food sales will expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.7%. According to the prediction, e-commerce would account for 13.6% of total food purchases by 2027, up from 11.2% in 2022. Over the next five years, pickup is expected to expand the quickest and capture the most market share.

Brick Meets Click and Mercatus predict that by 2027, online grocery sales will increase at a 2.5% CAGR. Both the ageing U.S. population and the decline in family size are anticipated to have a negative impact on food sales.
