SpartanNash expands use of autonomous inventory robot Tally to enhance grocery store operations

SpartanNash, a food solutions company, has revealed plans to expand its use of the autonomous inventory robot called Tally in 15 grocery stores across Michigan and Indiana. Developed by Simbe, Tally has already undergone a successful pilot in select D&W Fresh Market stores. Now, SpartanNash will implement the robot in additional Family Fare and Martin’s Super Market stores. Tally’s real-time data intelligence ensures that popular items are always fresh, adequately stocked, and competitively priced. By automating inventory tracking, Tally allows store associates to save time and focus more on serving customers. The slim and quiet robot uses 3-D computer vision technology to collect highly accurate shelf data, capturing an impressive 15,000 to 30,000 products per hour. This expansion aligns with SpartanNash’s commitment to customer-focused innovation and follows its recent pilot with Afresh Technologies.
