Is Q-commerce a thing of the past now?

We heard about prominent instant delivery firms like Getir, GoPuff, and Gorillas, amongst many others ceasing their operations and pulling out of various regions after raising hefty funds. Data from Apptopia shows that the rate of app downloads and usage has dropped in recent months. Getir witnessed its monthly user sessions halving from almost 30 million in March to just over 15 million in the last month. These companies pay more to their delivery associates than they charge their customers, and that is where they incur a loss, according to Research by Bain & Company consultants. It appears that the instant delivery idea is no longer a viable business model. Gorillas instantly understood this and shifted its approach by partnering with retail giants, including Tesco, to use their free space as their dark stores. Celia Van Wickel, Kantar’s digital commerce director, shared some handy tips for instant delivery forms to survive. Van Wickel believes that retail collaborations and automation of their order picking and packing process can significantly decrease overhead and labour costs.
