According to a new study from FMI-the Food Industry Association, the trend of using grocery stores’ foodservice as part of their meal planning and the growing trend toward eating at home are increasing among consumers. According to NielsenIQ statistics, the total sales of deli-prepared meals were around $31.3 billion for the 52 weeks ending August 27, which is a 9.3% increase every year.

These stats also show that there has been a 19.2% rise from the pre-pandemic 2019 period. Deli prepared foods’ unit sales increased somewhat, by 2.4% annually and by 7.2% over the previous year. Pizza specifically performed well, with unit volume and dollar sales both increasing by 20% over the previous 52 weeks.
