Chicory’s 2023 “Online Grocery Shopping Report” polled over 1,000 U.S. consumers to learn about the major features and patterns of online grocery shopping. According to the research, 56% of survey respondents said they order groceries online more regularly today than a year ago, and 72% indicated they have purchased goods online in the previous 90 days. Furthermore, 74% of respondents indicated convenience was the most essential consideration in their choice to shop for goods online, with price coming in second. Chicory also discovered that food blogs and recipe sites, as well as social media platforms, are the most popular online meal inspiration sources. CPG and grocery businesses may benefit from this trend by investing in e-commerce solutions that reach customers where they are and at the times when they need them. Most respondents named Walmart as their top online store, followed by Amazon Fresh, Aldi, The Kroger Co., and Costco Wholesale.
