Soon, Amazon Prime customers who use Amazon Fresh to shop for groceries online will have to spend much more to obtain free delivery. Delivery charges apply to online grocery orders from Amazon Fresh that total less than $150. For purchases under $50, delivery fees are $9.95; for orders over $50, they are $6.95.

Customers of Amazon who purchase a Prime membership for $139 a year will continue to receive free grocery delivery. Two months after the large online retailer announced a round of layoffs, a new charge structure was introduced. The company stated at the time that up to 10,000 employees, mostly centred in Amazon’s device business, recruiting, and retail operations, were expected to be impacted.
